Café Palestine

Le Space

After more than two great years at Het Goudblommeke in Papier/ La Fleur en Papier Doré with the support of vzw Geert van Bruaene, Cafe Palestine is moving to LeSpace for its monthly events from September 2018 onwards. We’re excited about this new partnership with Le Space, a cafe and cultural centre in Brussels that brings together artists, activists, start-ups and cultural organisations.

Cafe Palestine is a place to learn about Palestine, share experiences and knowledge and meet with fellow activists. Every first Thursday of the month at 19h, we gather to hear from people who have knowledge and analysis to share on Palestine. Together, we talk about Palestine and the Israeli occupation, in a safe space, with the simple goal of trying to understand Palestine and increase solidarity with the Palestinians. We see no boundaries between arts and politics. Culture meets personal stories and political analysis. We want to make the question of Palestine less complex and less distant. It’s as much about the Israeli occupation and geopolitics as about everyday life. It’s about fair trade, agriculture, struggle for equality, anti-racism, civil disobedience and feminism. It’s about our governments’ policies and our citizens’ involvement. It’s about them as part of a better us. It’s about the basics: basic rights, demands and dreams.

With this new partnership, Cafe Palestine and Le Space enter into a new alliance, where we will support each other in advocating for the rights of Palestinians, wherever they are. Cafe Palestine and LeSpace share the common goal to work together to find alternatives for a more just and equal society, where respect, solidarity, freedom and empowerment are the foundations of living together.

Our first Cafe Palestine at Le Space will take place on Thursday 6 September from 19h to 21h at LeSpace at sleutelstraat 26 rue de la clé 1000 Brussels. It will be a chance to celebrate this new alliance and meet many supporters after the summer break. More information on the topic and speakers for this event will be coming soon, but please mark the date in your diaries.

Café Palestine will take place each first Thursday of the month, from 19h to 21h, at Le Space on sleutelstraat 26 rue de la clé 1000 Brussels.
